Memoria Genera Futuro 2026 – Rome’s Program for Holocaust Remembrance Day
From 22 January to 5 February 2026, Rome hosts Memoria Genera Futuro, the institutional program dedicated to Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The initiative, promoted by the City of Rome, brings together a wide range of cultural events designed to foster reflection, awareness, and dialogue through different artistic and educational languages.
The program aims to transform memory into a shared civic practice, encouraging citizens — especially younger generations — to engage with history and its contemporary relevance.
A Citywide Cultural Program
The 2026 edition features more than forty events held in libraries, museums, theatres, and cultural venues across the city. The program includes:
- talks with historians, scholars, and witnesses;
- theatre performances and staged readings;
- concerts and musical events;
- film screenings and documentaries;
- workshops and educational activities for schools;
- exhibitions and thematic displays.
Each initiative contributes to a broader reflection on the Shoah, human rights, and the importance of preserving historical memory.
Culture as a Tool for Awareness
Memoria Genera Futuro reaffirms the role of culture as a space for dialogue and civic engagement.
Through accessible and widespread programming, the city renews its commitment to combating discrimination, hatred, and denialism, while promoting a culture of remembrance rooted in responsibility and empathy.
