A free outdoor activity for families
The Treasure Hunt in the green area is one of the most engaging activities offered by Explora – The Children’s Museum of Rome.
Designed for children and adults to play together, it takes place in the museum’s large outdoor garden, a safe and accessible space just a short walk from Piazza del Popolo.
The activity is free, runs continuously throughout the day, and requires no reservation, making it ideal for families looking for an educational and playful moment in the open air.
How the Treasure Hunt works
The Treasure Hunt combines physical exploration with digital interaction, creating a simple and fun “phygital” experience.
At the entrance of the green area, a panel introduces the activity and invites participants to search for QR codes hidden around the garden.
By scanning them with any connected device, children can:
- answer themed quizzes and questions;
- unlock clues to move forward in the challenge;
- discover fun facts about science, nature and water;
- collaborate with adults and friends to complete the path.
The current theme focuses on water, an essential element for life on Earth.
It’s a playful way to introduce children to sustainability and environmental awareness.
An inclusive and educational experience
Explora designed the Treasure Hunt to:
- encourage shared play between adults and children;
- stimulate scientific curiosity;
- promote movement and outdoor activity;
- offer accessible content suitable for all ages.
The green area also features an inclusive playground, with anti‑shock flooring and equipment designed to ensure equal access for all children.
